Seminar Fortgeschrittene Algorithmen in der Computergrafik

Organization

Information about the kick-off event will be announced via the ILIAS course. The number of participants is limited to 8.

Language of presentation: German or English.

Procedure

During the kick-off event, the topics will be presented and then assigned. If necessary, topics will be assigned randomly among all interested students after the kick-off event.

The seminar focuses on new publications in rendering and visualization. Students will prepare a written paper on their topic as well as give a presentation. This will be followed by a short discussion of the topics.

Content

This seminar deals with current research papers in the field of computer graphics and visualization.

The seminar consists of a 10–12 page written paper on the topic, as well as a 20-minute presentation followed by a 10-minute discussion for each topic.

Assessment is based on the presentation (70%) and the written paper (30%).

Recommendations:

It is recommended to have attended relevant lectures in the specialization area of computer graphics. Students will be able to:

  • gain insight into a current research area of computer graphics
  • conduct a literature review based on a given topic, identify relevant sources, locate them, evaluate them, and analyze them
  • prepare their seminar paper (and later their bachelor’s/master’s thesis) with minimal onboarding effort while adhering to formatting guidelines required by publishers for document submission
  • develop presentations in a scientific context, including techniques for structuring and delivering content appropriately for an audience
  • present research results in written form in a manner consistent with scientific publications
